See inside The Register, Nashville’s newest private social club
After several months of construction complicated by the pandemic, Nashville’s newest private social club will open its doors on Nov. 7.
The Register, a four-story luxury social club located in the historic Liggett building on 2nd Avenue, lauds itself as one of the most exclusive clubs in Music City.
Members enter the building and its members-only third floor lounge using a facial recognition system. The first floor houses The Study, a “molecular craft cocktail bar” open to members and community guests. The Walter, a 6,000-square-foot private event space with a fully-outfitted conference room and catering kitchen, serves members and guests on the second floor. A glass rooftop atrium bar will crown the building in early 2021.
“Our membership base is made up of accomplished individuals and business professionals, all of whom enjoy unparalleled access to the finest luxuries in life and are seeking a refined and distinguished retreat in the heart of Nashville’s financial sector,” co-founder Tillman Holloway stated in a news release.
The Register’s Nashville location is the club’s first, with locations in Denver, Austin and Atlanta to follow.
The Register started as an idea for a brick-and-mortar club where members could make purchases and off-market investments with cryptocurrency, according to an Oct. 21 news release.
Barron Solomon and Tillman Holloway, the club’s founders, met while operating a cryptocurrency mining facility in downtown Nashville on Union Street. At one time, Solomon said, they were the largest cryptocurrency miners in the southeastern United States.
Those roots are evident at the entrance of The Register’s member-exclusive third floor. Multiple cryptocurrency miner machines are encased in glass adjacent to a golden antique register. The relics serve as a visual reminder of some of the club’s backbone offerings, including networking, access to off-market opportunities to invest using cryptocurrency and opportunities to transact with and learn about blockchain and other cryptocurrencies.
The club’s website currently features an off-market fractional real estate investment opportunity at a 5,400-square-foot development in Nashville’s Gulch neighborhood.
Solomon said he wants the club to provide entertainment and amenities beyond its business connections. It represents the type of place Solomon wanted to entertain past visitors of his former Nashville cryptocurrency facility.
“We didn’t really feel like there was a great place to do the entertaining that we felt like we wanted to do for the caliber of people who were coming to town,” he said.
The club is located just off of Broadway at 2nd Avenue South and Demonbreun Street, but the services it offers to its corporate- and personal-tier members extend beyond its physical address. Members have access to “experience specialists” who can book private air travel, secure tickets for sporting events and other entertainment and connect members to The Register’s partners across multiple industries, including wellness, recreation, sports, design, culinary, events and travel.
“The whole mission was, let’s give downtown back to the locals in some way,” Solomon said. “Let’s make sure that the locals are always the ones who can experience the excitement that comes with living in a city as hot as Nashville.”
Inside the club, Chief Operating Officer Jake Williams said the team focused on retaining as many original elements of the 1930s building as possible while bringing in state-of-the-art technology. The building now boasts more than $600,000 of technology updates designed to create a cleaner environment in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Original exposed brick walls meet new glossy, swirled epoxy resin floors on every floor. Exposed pipes on the ceiling, painted a uniform matte gray, maintain an industrial feel, contrasted with formal and modern furnishings.
The Walter, named for Walter Liggett, offers 6,000 square feet of reservable open space for events on the second floor. The space, which can accommodate up to 200 guests, is unfurnished, and furniture can be rented to suit each event’s needs. A conference room on the same floor can accommodate up to 30 people and can also be modified to suit reservation needs. A catering preparation kitchen tops off the space, which can be reserved by members and the public (though members receive preferred access).
Starting Nov. 7, The Study bar, located on The Register’s first floor, will offer tableside service with socially-distanced seating by reservation only. Members have preferred access to the space and can host multiple guests, while the public must request invitations online or by phone. Members also have exclusive, unlimited access to socially-distanced lounges on the club’s third floor.

Trump’s campaign website hacked by cryptocurrency scammers
President Trump’s campaign website was briefly and partially hacked Tuesday afternoon as unknown adversaries took over parts of the page, replacing them with what appeared to be a scam to collect cryptocurrency. There is no indication, despite the hackers’ claims, that “full access to trump and relatives” was achieved or “most internal and secret conversations strictly classified information” were exposed.
“the world has had enough of the fake-news spreaded daily by president donald j trump,” the new site read. “it is time to allow the world to know truth.”
Claiming to have inside information on the “origin of the corona virus” and other information discrediting Trump, the hackers provided two Monero addresses. Monero is a cryptocurrency that’s easy to send but quite difficult to track. For this reason it has become associated with unsavory operations such as this hack.
One address was for people who wanted the “strictly classified information” released, the other for those who would prefer to keep it secret. After an unspecified deadline the totals of cryptocurrency would be compared and the higher total would determine what was done with the data.
The page was signed with a PGP public key corresponding to an email address at a non-existent domain (planet.gov).
The website was reverted to its original content within a few minutes of the hack taking place. There is no evidence to suggest that anything other than the one page was accessed, such as donor data; campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh confirmed the hack shortly afterwards, saying there was no exposure of sensitive data and that they are working with law enforcement.
Getting people to irreversibly send cryptocurrency to a mysterious address is a common form of scam online, usually relying on brief appearances on high visibility platforms like celebrity Twitter accounts and the like. This one is no different, and was taken down within minutes.
There is no indication that this attack was in any way state-sponsored, and while it strikes a partisan tone, one can hardly say that this is a very coherent attack against the Trump platform. Campaign and other elections-related websites are high-value targets for hackers because they are associated with entities like Trump but are not as secure as official sites like whitehouse.gov. Though the diction seems not to be that of a native English speaker, there is no other positive evidence that the hack is of foreign origin.
This is not the first time Trump has been hacked recently. His Twitter account was briefly taken over by someone who guessed his password (“maga2020!”) but was, luckily for the president, not of a mind to collect DMs or otherwise rock the boat. And of course, Trump’s hotels were hacked before as well.
Trump recently stated, mistakenly it seems, that “Nobody gets hacked. To get hacked you need somebody with 197 IQ and he needs about 15% of your password.”
